A 7 Year Olds, Utah Bigfoot Friend

     I hear about Sasquatch encounters all the time, from people of all walks of life. This is the first time I ever heard a story like this from a seven year old. Lots of parents will dismiss stories like this as pure fantasy, not believing anything that a young person has too say, and parents who do, are completely missing the mark. Parents should listen too what their children have to say. 

     A few months back, I took a friend to Home Depot in Provo, UT to get some outside paneling for her house. She didn’t own a truck, nor had anyway of transporting these 4x8 sheets of paneling, so we took my truck. When I picked her up, she told me that her 7 year old grandson was coming along. From Helper, it’s approximately a seventy mile trip to Provo. After loading the paneling into my truck, we started out for home. There wasn’t much of a conversation on the return trip, as we both were just listening to the seven year old grandson of my friend talk about school. After a while he started telling me about his friend, who talks with him, whenever he goes camping in the mountains by Salt Lake. First off, I would like to say that I’m telling this story the way that he told it to me. In the summer months, he would go camping with his aunt and uncle from Salt Lake quite often and this is where his friend comes to light. He kept telling me about this friend and I assumed that it was just a friend of his who went along on these camping trips, until he mentioned that it was a Bigfoot who was talking to him. When he said this, I started to pay attention. He told me that whenever they go camping in the mountains by Salt Lake, his friend Bigfoot will always come close to where they camp, too talk to him. I asked him if the Bigfoot scared him, he told me that he didn’t come into camp, and that he wasn’t afraid of him. He talks to me, but he is not there with me. He is hiding in the trees, away from where we are camping, whenever he talks to me (telepathy?) My aunt and uncle won’t let me go off by myself and I have to stay in camp. My Bigfoot friend wants me to come visit him, but I’m not allowed to leave camp by myself. I didn’t want to lead him in any way with questions, so I decided to just let him talk. He asked me if I knew how a Bigfoot sleeps and I told him that they will sometimes make a bed out of tree branches or make a primitive shelter. He told me that his friend lives in a cave not too far from where they go camping in the mountains by Salt Lake. He asked me if I was afraid of Bigfoot and I told him that I wasn’t. He told me that the next time they go camping in the mountains by Salt Lake; he will have his friend Bigfoot talk to me. He continued to tell me about what he liked to eat, and how they have to hide from people. He told me that only nice people, who don’t want to hurt him, are allowed to see him. When we arrived in Helper, he told me that there we’re Bigfoot in the mountains by Helper and that he has talked to them too. I asked him if he had learned this in school, and he told me that we are not allowed to talk about Bigfoot or we will get into trouble. All in all, he had a pretty incredible story to tell. I asked my friend, where did he learn so much about Bigfoot? She told me that whenever he gets home from these camping trips, he always has these Bigfoot stories to talk about.

Huntington Canyon, Utah - Sighting 08-22-2015

Huntington Canyon, UT 

     On 08-22-2015, a Price, Utah family of three was driving up Huntington Canyon to spend the day fishing at Mammoth Reservoir. When they got to the Crandall Canyon turn off, their seven year old son become very excited and asked what kind of an animal that was standing off into the trees. They come to a complete stop in their lane and then they noticed the upright animal first seen by their seven year old son, standing there. This creature reminded him and his wife of the character in the movie Harry and the Henderson’s, as it stood on the edge of the pine trees next to Huntington Creek. They told us that this upright standing animal was approximately 7 ½ feet tall, with long golden brown hair that had black accents mixed with it. This animal never moved, all the time they were stopped. He grabbed his camera and was going to take a picture of it, and then it started to make a loud growling or grunting noise. At this time his wife and son were becoming very upset and wanted to leave this area immediately, so he threw his camera down and quickly drove away.

     This area of Emery County, UT has had numerous sightings over the years, from Nuck Woodard Canyon to Millers Flat. In 2012 there was a forest fire that ravaged through the areas, not more than one mile from this recent sighting location and with all the surrounding damage, this could be a reason for the most recent sightings. Floods, land slides and tons of debris constantly flow down from the side canyons and bare mountain tops, from local thunder storms and rain showers, that keep the local wildlife moving.

Idaho Springs, Colorado - Sighting 08-13-2015

Interstate 70 - Colorado

     On the night of 08-13-2015, a truck driver leaving Wheat Ridge, Colorado (Denver) was traveling west on interstate 70 towards Idaho Springs, when a big tall ape like creature ran across the interstate on two legs, just ahead of his truck. The driver could only guess on the height and that it was considerably taller than the hood on his semi truck, guessing maybe 7 ½ to 9 feet tall. He had to rapidly slow down his truck, but said that he didn’t come close to hitting it. His name and the name of the company that he works for will remain anonymous; too protect his identity and job. He said that other vehicles, both trucks and cars, were trying not to hit it. This incident happened approximately half way between the Co 103 and the town of Idaho Springs.

Farnham Utah Sighting 03-08-2015

Carbon County - Mounds Road

     A construction worker from Arizona, working in Price UT on a local restaurant job, had an encounter with a big hairy human type animal, approximately ten miles southeast of Wellington UT. This is on the dirt road that follows the Price River, heading towards Mounds. This is his story as he related it to us.

     On 03-08-2015 (Sunday) John who is a construction worker from Arizona, working on a local restaurant remodeling job here in the Price area, took a trip to the mounds area with a friend (co worker) They took the county dirt road, that connects with Ridge Road, approximately where the Price River crosses. This road parallels the Price River and the Union Pacific Railroad, as you travel towards Mounds. Late in the afternoon, on their return trip, where the water is diverted out of the river at the power dam, there was a big upright animal standing in the middle of the road. John comes to a complete stop, as they sat in their truck watching this. He sounded the horn from his truck and the animal made a loud growling type sound and then quickly ran away up the hill to the east. He describes it as, approximately seven feet tall, sandy brown long hair with black accents in it. When it ran up the hill, he could see the feet with five big toes. He told us that it looks very similar to beasts that he’s seen in documentaries. This is all of a description that was given to us.

Big Piney, Wyoming Encounter Story 10-30-2010

     Darrell Smith and I received a report from Rudy Drobnick, of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, of a Sasquatch encounter east of Big Piney/Marbleton, Wyoming, involving two Utah out of State hunters. The encounter took place on October 30, 2010. Darrell and I received the report from Rudy in November of the same year. Rudy Drobnick is a retired UDWR Biologist, who collects Sasquatch reports from hunters and other people, throughout the State. This is the story, as Rudy related it to Darrell and I.

     On October 30, 2010, two Utahns (names withheld) hunting in the area east of Big Piney/Marbleton, Wyoming near the Wind River Mountains, had noticed, what looked like very large footprints in the snow. The prints were approximately eighteen inches in length, with three large toes and approximately somewhere between four and five feet apart and appeared to the two hunters, to be walking in a heel to toe pattern. The two hunters were following these tracks in the snow, soon becoming aware that what they were trying to follow, was following and tracking them.  The description was a very large and massive upright walking creature with long reddish brown hair, that somewhat resembled a large ape or gorilla. The one hunter, become scared and took a shot at the beast with his rifle. There was a flash of light and then the Sasquatch disappeared. This is the report given to us and this is what the two hunters related to Rudy, as to what had happened to them in Wyoming. There are other reports of a Sasquatch disappearing while being shot at by a hunter and this paranormal or supernatural aspect, does happen occasionally. Some researchers and people, take offence to anything in a non scientific nature being reported along with the encounter, which is a oxymoron in itself, but I will report the entire account as I receive them. 

     I had a UFO encounter to investigate north of Evanston, WY and then traveled to the area in question, in the spring in 2011 after the snow disappeared and spent two days looking for tracks and other evidence. The UFO incident was not involved with this sighting. Even though this was a third hand report, I still spent the time to investigate it.

Paradise, Utah - 2007 Sighting's

     In the summer of 2007, Darrell Smith and I were contacted about a possible Sasquatch encounter in Cache County, near Paradise, Utah. To protect the identity of the people evolved, their names won’t be revealed. We traveled to the Logan area and spent two days, investigating and interviewing the people involved. This is their story:

     We arrived at the small ranch located near the Wasatch - Cache National Forest, early Saturday morning and met with the owner. After introducing ourselves and having coffee, we were taken on a tour of the ranch. We were shown where the Sasquatch was seen multiple times crossing fields, not only by the ranch owner, but also their neighbors. A fairly large irrigation canal crosses multiple other ranches and they explained that this is another well used trail for them. We were told that the last sighting was just two evenings back, in the canal that runs close to the house. While Darrell continued talking to the owner, I proceeded to walk up and down the canal, searching for tracks. With water recently in the canal, if any tracks were there, the water had washed them away. I did find places where something had made tracks, but as muddy as it was in the canal, nothing very well defined could be seen. A small creek running along the road near the property was another very well used trail. We talked to two neighbors, who verified what we were being told by the owner of the ranch.

     One evening about a month ago, with their three dogs tied up outside, a Sasquatch crossed a field by the house. The owner could hear the dogs as they all three cowered underneath a nearby truck. Looking out a window that overlooks the field, where the dogs were tied, they could see a very large and massive upright walking animal, they estimated to be around ten feet tall, walk by their barn. When they went to the other side of the house to look out another window, they seen it drop into the canal proceeding north. Other times, they see them walking across the lower fields, near large groves of cottonwood trees. When they do this, their horses run up by the barn trying to hide from it. Most of the time, they see one animal, but they have seen two together. This was even confirmed by the one neighbor. Occasionally, they said you could smell them as they come close to the house.

     The owners were very concerned about their safety and the safety of their animals. We tried to stress to them about some of the habits of the Sasquatch, hoping it would sooth some of their fear, but doubt it helped that much. This part of Utah is a literal hot spot for the Sasquatch and we plan on spending lots of time up here.

Sacramento Pass, Nevada - Encounter 2008

     I interviewed a man from Price, Utah who had seen a Bigfoot type creature squatting on the side of US 6, near Sacramento Pass, in the State of Nevada. His name and the names of his two sons are omitted, to protect their identity. In the summer of 2008, he was traveling from Price, UT to Fallon, NV with his two sons, when the encounter took place. This is his story, as he related it to me.

     Approximately halfway between the State line west of Delta, UT and Sacramento Pass, he noticed, what at first, he thought was a black bear, sitting along the side of the road. He slowed his car down to get a better look of it, almost stopping. The position of the squatting animal at the roadside, would only allow a side view of it, until it turned it's head to look at them. After realizing that this wasn't a bear, he speed away, leaving it safely behind. The animal was approximately 6 feet tall, while in the squatting position and was covered completely in long dark hair. The top of the head came to a point or crown and the one arm that he noticed had a hand and fingers. When he had almost stopped, it had turned it’s head around to the right, to look at him. This is when he decided to take off and leave it behind. The hair went completely around it’s face, showing a mouth, large nose and eyes. His youngest son, was sitting by the window in the front seat and was extremely terrified by what he was watching.

Wellington, Utah - Sighting 03-08-2015

     On 03-09-2015, I received a report from a resident of Wellington, Utah,  of an unknown human like animal running across the highway (US191) between the cities of Price and Wellington, Utah. This took place at dusk, approximately 7:40 PM. The one witness (driver) told me that it looked like a hairy man, wearing no clothes. It had come out of a narrow concrete overpass for the railroad tracks, that runs parallel the highway, running across the highway in front of the witness, causing him to brake suddenly, almost hitting it. He had stopped, watching it cross the fields on the other side of the road, disappearing out of sight. After interviewing the witnesses, I went to the location of the railroad overpass, to investigate. The railroad tracks are located on the west side of the highway, approximately 70 feet away. The tracks themselves, are running on top of what looks like a causeway. The Price river winds along on the west side of the railroad tracks and the narrow overpass (approximately 10 feet tall) is too allow runoff water to escape to the river and not get caught between the tracks and the road. As you pass underneath this overpass, you come upon very thick willows, making it impossible to proceed to the river, which is about 50 feet further. The mud from the melting of resent snow, was very difficult to walk through. There was what could possibly been tracks, but because of the very soft watery mud, was impossible to make any kind of assessment about them. The area too the east of the highway is very rural, filled with many washes and does make for a good route too the mountains, avoiding the more populated areas. Of course, this is all just speculation on my part and thinking that maybe if it possibly was a Sasquatch, I decided to look for footprints in the areas north, between the two cities; not finding anything. The next day, I searched the area between Dead Man Canyon and East Carbon, Utah, finding nothing. There has been many recent sightings in about a twenty mile circle of this area, since 2009 and the latest was in 2012.

American Fork Canyon, Utah - Alleged Sasquatch Video by Paranormal Review

     This latest video given to Paranormal Review from a hiker, of an alleged Sasquatch near Tibble Reservoir, American Fork Canyon, Utah is actually a fairly decent video after it's been slowed down and stabilized, except the part where the witness had run, which unfortunately entails most of the video. The clearest and best view of the beast is early in the video, starting at 0:13 and shows him/her walking through the trees and this is your best view of this creature. The video shows a large massive looking creature/Sasquatch, with very broad shoulders with what seems like long arms. But unfortunately, photo's and video isn't enough for science to accept totally, falling way short of their critical mindset. You Tube has become a clearing house of hoax's, to downright fraud, but please don't think I'm judging this video as such. This is actually, one of the better video's of an alleged Sasquatch, but unfortunately it's going to take more than a video or photo to prove their existence. DNA is no good, unless you already have DNA to compare it with and nothing short of capturing or killing one, is what it's going to take. I personally hope no one ever kills one, but unfortunately, it will probably happen some day. I've been researching and hunting for evidence in Utah for over twenty years and I believe that there is a strong probability of a paranormal or supernatural aspect to this big elusive creature, that science and most other researchers will absolutely ignore.Below is a link to the  video, you will need to copy and paste.

Utah Bigfoot Files - Ron Johnson, Who Are You ?

     This will be a very short biography on who I am. My name is Ron Johnson, for those of you who don’t know me and hopefully this article will help substantiate, who I am and what I do. Born and raised in southern California before the massive influx of people and later moving to Price, Utah in 1971, the metaphysical or paranormal environment has always been a huge interest to me. I first started hearing about Sasquatch encounters/sightings as far back as the 1960’s, which fascinated my interest. Most of these were farther north, but the ones south of Bakersfield, were the ones that captured my total attention. I have had many UFO encounters pretty much my entire life, in California, Hawaii and Utah and I plan on starting another blog entailing this subject. Other than the paranormal, I love photography, hiking, exploring old ghost towns and abandoned mine sites across the southwest. I used to race stock cars, here locally in the Price area for four years, giving it up because of the time and expense.

     This world is charged with many unknown's or if you will, unscientific subjects such as, UFO’s/abductions, ghosts/hauntings, cryptozoology/ Sasquatch and many other subjects to numerous to mention. As a paranormal investigator, I try to indulge into a vast majority of these, but time is a very limiting factor. I’m the founder of Southeast Utah Paranormal, doing research and investigating Sasquatch sightings and ghosts/hauntings. I have done interviews with, Jerry Pippin, Patty Greer, Elaine Douglass (Journal of Abduction Research - JAR) Tracie Austin-Peters and with KSUU – FM radio 91.1 (Cedar City, Utah) RJ Hinder – Morning Liberty Show (RBN – Internet) and been featured in the Salt Lake City Weekly – Sept 24, 2009 (Touched by an Alien) and Oct 27, 2011 (Soul Searchers) have done numerous talks with Utah – MUFON and various other paranormal groups in Utah.      Even though I now live in Utah, as I thought, California was the perfect place to see a Sasquatch or to find Sasquatch foot prints, but in May of 2012, I saw the big elusive beast for myself, in the Book Cliffs of southeastern Utah. Next to my UFO encounters, to see a Sasquatch (with a witness) had to be one of the biggest highlights of my entire life. Okanogan National Forest,Washington - 1980 Encounter

     I interviewed a man, whom I’ll call Michael, from West Virginia, who had an encounter with a Sasquatch, while serving in the military. This happened in the summer of 1980, while teaching survival in the Okanogan National Forest of Washington State. I’m keeping his name and military rank hidden, too protect his identity. He told me that he never did believe in the existence of a Sasquatch or any type of an unknown primate and thought it was rather shallow minded of people to believe in such things. Something happened to him in Washington State, back in 1980 that totally changed his way of thinking. This is his story as he related it too me.

     Michael has been in the U.S. military for over 40 years, enlisting through the R.O.T.C. program. While in the military, he wanted to become a survival instructor and spent years learning the different techniques. After becoming a certified instructor, he would take students out into different types of country, for testing. He has spent many times in the Okanogan of Washington State with individual students and also by himself. On one particular survival outing in the Okanogan National Forest with two students, while sitting around a small camp fire talking about survival techniques, a big dark colored biped walked right into their camp. This creature paused for a few seconds, then turned around and walked away. He described it to me as being at least ten feet tall, looking somewhat like a hairy ape and very big looking and wide. This encounter took place late at night, with the only light coming from the small fire, so they both didn’t get a very good look at it. He told me that they couldn't get to sleep that night and pretty much stayed up till morning. There were very large, wide and approximately 20 plus   inch long barefoot human type tracks with five toes. He estimated the size by comparing the tracks to his own foot. The stride that this big animal had was much longer than what an average sized human would be capable of. Where they were camped, wasn't too far from the Canadian border and the tracks come from that direction and then preceded back towards Canada. He told me that he never did believe in a Sasquatch, but know he does.

Does Sasquatch Live in the Desert ? Answer is Yes !

    I get asked quite frequently, about the possibility of a Sasquatch living in the desert. The answer is a monstrous yes. Coming originally from southern California, I have been hearing and reading numerous Bigfoot sightings, from all over the desert areas of California, Arizona and Nevada. These come from the late 50’s up through this current time, but the majority was through the 50’s and 60’s. Southern California was once a hot bed of activity for the Sasquatch, long before the influx of population took over. I remember reading stories in the Los Angeles Times and many of the local smaller news papers, about Bigfoot sightings, ranging from Bakersfield to San Diego and as far east as Phoenix and Las Vegas. At this time in my life, reading about these sightings was quite frequent. There was a large population of white colored Bigfoot, called the Borrego Sandmen, in an around the Anza Borrego Desert area, south of Palm Springs. From the mid 1800’s to the 1960’s, this area had numerous Sandmen (Sasquatch) encounters with gold hunters and trappers.

      The areas between Tehachapi, Edwards Air Force Base, Victorville and Cajon Pass, was another hot spot of activity from those early years of the 50’s up through the early 70’s. It stands to reason, because the Sierra Nevada range basically runs down the entire state of California from one end to the other. What a great travel way for the Sasquatch to use. Just like here in the inter-mountain west, they have a fantastic way to travel, from Montana to New Mexico, by staying completely hidden in the mountains. With the massive population growth in California, the sightings have become quite sparse, but I believe there might be a few left in places, like on the 270,000 acre Tejon ranch of the Tehachapi Mountains, Los padres National Forest and Angeles National Forest. Does Bigfoot live in the desert? The answer is yes and without a doubt, I believe he is here in the desert areas of Utah, also.

Finding Bigfoot

      I was recently on the show “Finding Bigfoot” which aired in July of 2014. This was the last show of the season. The town meeting was located at the Strater Hotel, Diamond Belle Saloon and let me tell you, it was standing room only. Being in the four corners area, they had a lot of area to cover in a two week period. This episode had Matt Moneymaker (New Mexico), Cliff Barackman (Arizona), Ranae Holland (Utah) and James Fay (Colorado), splitting up and each taking their separate state.

     How I ended up at the town meeting in Durango, CO was back in 2012, I started to receive many reports of eye witness accounts of a Sasquatch and reports of prints in the areas between Helper, Indian Canyon Summit and Lila Canyon to the east. This is primarily in the Book Cliffs of southeastern Utah, Carbon and Duchesne Counties, between the dates of 2010 – 2012. All in all, I have 18 reports of encounters and foot prints in this one triangle shaped area. We filed reports of our encounters with the B.F.R.O. and in November of 2013, I was contacted by Animal Planet about our reports we filed. I sent some of my reports (with their permission) to the producer for his evaluation. The producer of the show asked me to come to Durango, for the town meeting to describe my encounter.

     The town meeting was quite interesting, as not just anybody could attend it, you have to be invited. Absolutely, no photo’s taken at all during the meeting and all cell phones off. Anyone caught trying to take a picture, was immediately excused from the meeting and not allowed to tell their story or return. I can understand their protocol, as it was a mad house of people outside, trying to get in. After approximately 45 minutes of changing seating and lighting changes, the meeting started. We all had to be out of the Saloon at 10:00 PM sharp and I was the last person up to speak. There were so many people there with Sasquatch sightings to relay, that when it got around to my turn, I only had a few minutes left to describe it. Because of the time remaining, I had to hurry in telling my story and left out many details, but after the meeting, I got another chance to tell it in better detail to Cliff and Ranae. This was an exciting experience to be a part of and no matter what you might think; all four of them are very knowledgeable on the subject of Sasquatch. The assistant producer told me that they were planning another show for southeastern Utah at a later date and I was to be invited back. I can hardly wait.
